This image shows Appalachian State Chancellor Herbert Walter Wey (1969-1979) standing behind a podium giving a speech during the dedication of the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center in 1973 at Appalachian State University (1967-current). The Broyhill Inn and Conference Center, built 1972, served as an inn and the home of the Center for Continuing Education. Those seated from right to left are Sen James Broyhill, Ms. Patricia Holshouser (wife of Gov. James Holshouser) and President Emeritus William H. Plemmons.
