Description

This image shows the main building on the Camp Broadstone property at Valle Crucis, NC. Camp Broadstone was purchased by the State of North Carolina, Watauga County, and the newly formed Appalachian School Camp, Inc., in 1961 for ten dollars. Appalachian School Camp, Inc., was formed to manage the property as an education tool for elementary and high school students, as well as to provide teaching experience in an outdoor setting. The wooden building was renovated and enlarged in 1973. Camp Broadstone is a multi-use facility run by the the Office of Conferences and Institutes at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Three people can be seen leaving through a side door. A flag pole can be seen on the right of the image, and two parked cars are on the left.
