This image shows a typing class taught by James T. Thompson, head of the Department of Business Education, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). He taught business education at Appalachian State from 1949 to 1955. Students can be seen typing on adding machines and regular typewriters. This photograph was taken during the mid-1950s.
