Football Banquet, 1952, photo 4

This image shows a man speaking in front of a microphone at a football banquet being held in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on December 11, 1952. A banner reading "Appalachian State Boone, North Carolina" and a triangular banner reading "Appalachian" can be seen on the wall in the background. The banquet was attended by around 200 people, including faculty, staff, administrators, and students. Awards were given to outstanding members of the Mountaineer Football Team for 1952-53, and Coach E. C. Duggins distributed letters to deserving team members. The guest speaker for the event was Charles Elledge, principal of Marion High School.
