Homecoming Court, 1955, departing queen

This image shows sophomore Carolyn Mae Wall, the Homecoming queen of 1954, before the Homecoming ceremony where the next queen would be crowned in October 1955, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Homecoming festivities took place in October and included a parade, plays, a dance, and the election of the Homecoming queen and court, in addition to the football game. She is now Carolyn Taylor, Boone resident.
