Description

This image shows the Appalachian High School (1938-1965) Majorettes standing in formation in front of the marching band on College Field in front of Smith-Wright Hall, built 1940, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). One audience member can be seen sitting on bleachers in the foreground. The Majorettes and marching band performed at the high school athletic events and at Appalachian State's Homecoming festivities. Appalachian High School was a joint venture between Appalachian State Teachers College and Watauga County Schools, wherein Watauga students would be taught by Appalachian State faculty and students.
