This image shows the 1957-58 Mountaineers Baseball Team posing on Red Lackey Field at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Two players in the front row hold crossed baseball bats. Shown in the back row are assistant coach Jack Phillips, Jerry Peoples, Rex Kilby, Sam Travis, Ben McGee, Lester Grimes, Jim Michaels, Phil Triplette, Carl Motsinger, and coach Al Matthews. Kneeling in the front row are Guy Smith, R. E. Shaw, Charles Williams, Blaine Froneberger, Bobby Carlton, Jim Mask, Ken Davis, Don Alexander, John Watlington, and Bobby Clark. This image appears in the 1958 Rhododendron (p. 150).
