Title

Homecoming Parade, 1958, Women's Athletic Association

Description

This image shows the float of the Women's Athletic Association and Flying Fish in the Homecoming parade on October 18, 1958, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). The float includes women in white clothes, holding items belonging to various sports, including basketballs, tennis rackets, and baseball bats. I. G. Greer Hall, built 1950, can be seen in the background. Homecoming was held in the fall of each year, and included dramatic plays, a parade, an alumni reunion, the Homecoming football game, and a Homecoming dance. The Homecoming parade started at the warehouse on Faculty Drive, traveled down King Street to U.S. 321 to the Promenade and ended at the second Administration Building.
