Women's Athletic Association, 1958

This image shows one of the Women's Athletic Association activities at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in 1958. A group of women can be seen kicking a ball in one of the campus gyms in 1958. The Women's Athletic Association was formed of women who were physical education majors interested in extracurricular activities related to physical and health education. Association activities included games and programs emphasizing physical education and exercise, such as volleyball, softball, speedball, soccer, and basketball, and various intramural programs including badminton, tennis, archery, and ping-pong. This image appears in the 1958 Rhododendron (p. 157).
