Title

Rhododendron, 1958, "A Pictorial Record"

Description

This image shows a woman looking at a book in the D. D. Dougherty Library, built 1935, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in 1958. She is seen sitting at a table against the wall, at the end of a poorly lit set of bookshelves. This image was published in the 1958 Rhododendron (p. 3), with the title, "a pictorial record." It was part of an introductory series of images, reading, "A. S. T. C. is more than a school... it is a state of mind, the search for knowledge, the desire for gaiety, the determination to win, the will to serve, the need for recognition, and a time for humility." The Rhododendron was the student produced yearbook for Appalachian State since 1922 to 1992, and 2005 to 2006, when it ceased publication.
