Freshman Orientation, 1957, photo 2

This image shows the freshman orientation at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Students sit in an auditorium in the second Administration Building, built 1924, watching the Appalachian State cheerleaders perform cheers. Orientation was held at the start of each semester for incoming students, and included placement tests, religious meetings, campus tours, dances and other special events, and registration. This image appears in the 1958 Rhododendron (p. 83).
