This image shows part of the audience at the commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1981. A woman is seen sleeping, with her head resting on the shoulder of the man to her left. Other audience members and students in caps and gowns are seen in the background. Commencement was held in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968. On the right in the foreground is Ms. Faye Parker, wife at that time of Dr Clinton Parker who was Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
