This image shows attendees at a luncheon held at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Nine people stand before the entrance to Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, where the luncheon was held. The luncheon was part of the commencement festivities in May 1978. On the far left in the background is Mrs. Jan Thomas, the wife of Chancellor John E. Thomas who is standing second from the left. In the center of the foreground is Mr. Dwight Quinn who received an honorary degree at this commencement.
