This image shows a speaker at the May 1981 commencement at Appalachian State University (1967-current). A man stands behind a podium bearing the Appalachian State seal. Wall reads, "W. Carolina," and includes a painting of the Western Carolina mascot, the catamount. Commencement was held in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968.
