This image shows Dwight Quinn posing with his family after having received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in 1978. The ceremony was part of the 1978 commencement in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968, at Appalachian State University (1969-current). Quinn was a legislator and chairman of the Appalachian State Board of Trustees. He helped the School obtain university status in 1967.
