This image shows part of the 1969 commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1969-current). A speaker addresses the audience and graduates behind a podium in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968, with several other speakers seated in the background, including President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) on the left, and Dean of General College Omri Kenneth Webb, third from left. The band can be seen seated in a semicircle at the base of the stage, and masters degree candidates are seated in the foreground. The Campus Photographer is standing in front of the stage to the right.
