Title
Registration, circa 1967, lines, photo 1
Description
This image shows the registration lines inside one of the buildings at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Students are lined up along the left side of the image along a brick wall, waiting to register inside the cafeteria. A statue of Yosef is seen on the right. The registration process included placement tests for freshmen, class signup, payment of fees, and vaccinations from Health Services for students without proper immunizations. Prior to registration, students had to complete a registration packet, including a Student Information Card, a Locator Card, Program Cards for courses, a Fee Card, a Motor Vehicle Card, and a draft card. On registration day, a student submitted a completed Registration Approval Form from his advisor, with selected course and section numbers, to the Registration Center, set up in the gymnasium, where the student would obtain course cards, signifying a student's entry into that course and section, and a Student Master Card. Both had to be checked and punched before a student could attend classes. In 1967, lines on registration day had students waiting in lines for more than three hours.
