Description
This image shows students seated at Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, filling out their cards for class registration at Appalachian State University (1967-current). The registration process included placement tests for freshmen, class signup, payment of fees, and vaccinations from Health Services for students without proper immunizations. Prior to registration, students had to complete a registration packet, including a Student Information Card, a Locator Card, Program Cards for courses, a Fee Card, a Motor Vehicle Card, and a draft card. On registration day, a student submitted a completed Registration Approval Form from his advisor, with selected course and section numbers, to the Registration Center, set up in the gymnasium, where the student would obtain course cards, signifying a student's entry into that course and section, and a Student Master Card. Both had to be checked and punched before a student could attend classes.
