Description
This image shows three students seated at a table at W. H. Plemmons Student Union, built 1967, eating ice cream cones at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Welborn Hall served as the main cafeteria for Appalachian State since its opening in 1925, but in the 1960s services were expanded to include an ice cream parlor and the Gold Room in Plemmons Student Union. Food was supplied by the meat, vegetable, and dairy produce from Appalachian State's two farms, as a means of saving money for the University until the early 1960s.
