This image shows University Librarian Richard Barker speaking at the dedication of the William Leonard Eury Appalachian Collection at the first Belk Library, built 1968, on October 17, 1971, at Appalachian State University (1967-current). The W. L. Eury Appalachian Collection is a repository for materials related to the Southern uplands, with strengths in the social sciences, regional history, folklore, music, religion, genealogy, fiction, and African and Native Appalachia. The audience can be seen in the background, including William Leonard Eury seated third from the right in the first row, second from the right in the first row and fourth and fifth on the first row are Mr. and Mrs. Bob Agle. Mrs. Agle was the sister of Mr. Eury. On the far right of the first row is Mrs. Clara Ann Gilstrap, wife if Mr. C.h. Gilstrap, Director of Admissions, who is seated behind her on the second row. Second from the right on the second row is Dr. O.K. Webb, Dean of the General College.
