This image shows the unveiling of the unveiling of a portrait of William Leonard Eury at the dedication of the William Leonard Eury Appalachian Collection at the first Belk Library, built 1968, on October 17, 1971, at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Reference Librarian Allie Hodgin (left) and Cataloger Mary Huff (right) lift the cover off the painting, while University Librarian Richard Barker watches in the background. The W. L. Eury Appalachian Collection is a repository for materials related to the Southern uplands, with strengths in the social sciences, regional history, folklore, music, religion, genealogy, fiction, and African and Native Appalachia.
