Bookstore, first, snack bar, photo 7

This image shows the snack bar in the College Bookstore, added in 1955, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Students can be seen purchasing snacks at the counter, with four employees helping customers. The bookstore operated in an old brick building at the corner of Locust St. and College Ave. from 1934 until 1967, when it was demolished to make way for the construction of a newer, larger University Bookstore, finished 1969. In addition to book sales and rentals, the store offered Appalachian State merchandise, office and school supplies, a soda fountain, and a snack bar.
