This image shows an environmental protest in the 1970s at Appalachian State University (1967-current) and Boone, NC, by Appalachian State students. A group of students can be seen standing by a ball field, holding signs reading, "Down with Pollution," and "America the Beautiful?. People play baseball in the background and a van with "Death" written on its side is on the left. Students were protesting the amount of pollution and garbage in the campus and town in general.
