Description

This image shows the First Baptist Church, located on King Street at the northwestern side of Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Appalachian State co-founders Dauphin Disco and Blanford Barnard Dougherty donated land on which the Baptist Church was built in 1911, and rebuilt in 1914, as well as donating another lot in 1957 next to the Baptist Church to erect an addition for educational purposes. It is also the church were Blanford Barnard Dougherty's funeral services were held in 1957.
