Description

This image shows the graduating class of 1916 from Appalachian Training School (1903-1925). This image shows the graduates standing in front of a brick building, holding bouquets of flowers. The men are dressed in tuxedos and the women wear identical white dresses. The 1916 class included 28 graduates. Although the School operated a separate summer school, the academic year was considered over at the end of the summer term, and commencement day took place on Friday, July 11, 1916, including songs by individuals and a quartette, a history of the class, a class prophecy, speeches, and the awarding of diplomas.
