This image shows the members of the Mountaineer football team of 1953-54 at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). They are positioned on College Field in front of the Men's Gymnasium, built 1934, visible in the background. College Field was located south of the Administration Building, built 1924, approximately where Rankin Science Hall was later built in 1963.
