This image shows Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) placing the crown on Homecoming Queen Myra Efird at College Field during the Homecoming Game in October 1955. A student can be seen standing by holding a bouquet of flowers, while the band and majorettes can be seen in the background. Smith-Wright Hall, built 1940, and the Administration Building, built 1924, can also be seen behind the bleachers, where fans watch.
