This image shows four of the six members of the Playcrafters, the dramatic club at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), performing in the January 1954 production of "Home of the Brave," a World War II drama about a Jewish soldier's experience in the South Pacific. Seen from left to right are Michael Harrelson ."Finch". Charles Hales ("Coney"), Jerry Young ("Maj. Dennis Robinson Jr."), and Ed Collins ("T. J.") Not seen are Coy Temple ("Doctor, Capt. Harold Bitterger") and Larry Auten ("Mingo"). The production won the highest rating at the annual drama festival in Chapel Hill, NC, that year. This image appears in the 1954 Rhododendron (p. 86).
