This image shows the 1953 Mountaineers football players playing an unidentified team on the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) football field, known as College Field, located south of the Administration Building, built 1924, approximately where Rankin Science Hall was later built in 1963. Smith-Wright Hall, built 1940, can be seen in the background. A crowd of onlookers can be seen sitting on the hill in the background.
