Description

This image shows the College Employees Banquet, December 18, 1953, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). The head of the Department of Education, Chapell Wilson, hands a piece of paper to Blanford Barnard Dougherty, co-founder and co-principle of Watauga Academy (1899-1903), superintendent of Appalachian Training School (1903-1925), and president of Appalachian from 1925 to 1955. Banquet was held at Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925.
