Description

This image shows the southern (rear) entrance to Newland Residence Hall, built 1939, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. The building was built on the sight of the original Newland Hall, built 1908, and housed 132 students. It started as a men's dormitory, but became co-educational in 1971. A new Newland Hall was built on the sight in 1996.
