Description
This image shows the northern entrance to Newland Residence Hall, built 1939, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. A tennis court can be seen in the foreground. The building was built on the sight of the original Newland Hall, built 1908, and housed 132 students. It started as a men's dormitory, but became co-educational in 1971. A new Newland Hall was built on the sight in 1996.
