Description

This image shows William Spencer, professor and chairman of the Department of Music Education at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. He can be seen sitting in an office holding a dulcimer. Spencer began teaching at Appalachian State in 1951, served as department chairman from 1958 to 1971, and retired in 1986.
