Description

This image shows John A. Pritchett, associate professor in the Department of Education, standing outside in a tuxedo at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. Smith Wright Hall, built 1940, can be seen in the background. Pritchett began working at Appalachian State in 1955, where he organized the Department of Audio-Visual Education, later the Department of Library Science. He served as the first director of the Audio-Visual Center, and was first official University Photographer. He retired in 1991.
