This image shows a geography class being taught in the Department of Social Studies at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. Students can be seen sitting at desks. Professor Julian Yoder can be seen sitting in the foreground. The Department of Social Studies was separated into the Departments of History, Political Science, Geography and Geology, and Sociology in the mid-1960s.
