This image shows Professor Robert W. Watkins teaching a class in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. He can be seen demonstrating a twisting maneuver. Students can be seen in the background. Watkins began teaching at Appalachian State in 1932. He served as department chairman and athletic director from 1940 to 1944, head football coach from 1940 to 1942, and wrestling coach until 1958. He retired in the mid-1970s.
