Description

This image shows John W. Welborn, manager of Food Services, and Vivian Welborn, dietician and professor, standing in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1950s. Welborn was manager of the Cafeteria from the 1930s until the 1970s. Vivian Welborn taught in the Home Economics Department from 1944 until 1974, and served as a dietician from 1948 to 1963. Welborn Cafeteria was the main dining hall for Appalachian State since 1925, and served food primarily grown from the University's two farms until the early 1960s.
