This image shows G. T. Sawyer, professor in the Department of Social Studies, standing behind a student at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in April 1962. He can be seen putting a paper crown on the student's head. The student can be seen sitting on a garbage can. Sawyer taught sociology at Appalachian State from 1926 to 1962.
