Description

This image shows children and adults walking around an English settlement at the newly opened Jamestown Festival Park in Jamestown, VA. The park opened in 1957 for the 350th anniversary of the original settlement's founding in 1607, and included recreations of Native American and English settlements and three replica ships. The opening celebration lasted from April 1 to November 30, 1957. Students possibly include members of Appalachian Elementary School (1925-1975) and Appalachian High School (1938-1965), demonstration schools run by Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) and Watauga County.
