Description

This image shows Charles Isley, professor in the Department of Music Education and director of the Marching Band at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), standing out on College Field in the early 1960s. Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1938, and the Marching Band can be seen in the background. Isley began working at Appalachian State in 1958 and retired in June 1978. College Field was replaced by Conrad Stadium in 1962 and was the later location of Rankin Science Hall, completed 1963.
