Description

This image shows Jesse Jackson, lecturer and writer-in-residence in the Department of Elementary Education and Educational Media in the College of Learning and Human Development at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. He can be seen sitting outside on a wooden fence in a field. Jackson began working at Appalachian State in 1973 and was the author of numerous children's books. He was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters by Appalachian State in 1982.
