Description

This image shows Francis Hoover, professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. Hoover graduated from Appalachian State in 1939, and began teaching in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation in 1945. He served as end coach for ten years, baseball coach for two years, tennis for one year, basketball for twelve years, and golf for twenty-two years. Hover was the husband of Ms. Rena Hoover who was in Instructor in the Department of History. He was inducted into the Appalachian Athletic Hall of Fame in 1977, the same year he retired. He died in 2002.
