This image shows Edward Gibson, professor in the Department of History at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), sitting in his office in the 1960s. He can be seen lighting a pipe. Gibson began teaching at Appalachian State in 1959. He retired from teaching in 1971 and took the position of international student advisor in the Office of Student Affairs.
