This image shows Ben H. Horton, chair of the Department of Education at Appalachian State University (1967-current), sitting at a desk in an office in June 1969. Horton began teaching education at Appalachian State and other schools in 1950. He served as chair of the department from 1958 to 1968, when he became dean of the College of Education until 1973. He retired in 1978.
