Description

This image shows Theatre Professor David French from the Department of Speech sitting and speaking with a student at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in May 1963. He can be seen holding a copy of "The Plays of Henrik Ibsen." French taught theatre at Appalachian State from 1959 until his death in 1970, and served as director of the Playcrafters, the dramatic student organization. The theatre program was moved from the Department of English to the Department of Speech in 1963.
