This image shows Maxie Edmisten, dean of Women, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), sitting in an office talking with a student in November 1965. The Dean of Women handled administrative affairs and regulations for women students. Edmisten served as dean from 1957 until her retirement in 1971.
