Description

This image shows Vice-President and Comptroller David Barnard Dougherty (1955-1965) sitting at a table during the alumni luncheon at Whitener Hall, built 1954, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in October 1959. Mrs. Dougherty can be seen on the right and Mrs. Plemmons, wife of the University President, can be seen on the left. Dougherty served as business manager from 1938 to 1955, and as vice-president of the College from 1955 until 1965. In the background on the tight is Dr. D.J. Whitener, Dean of the University. This image appears in the October 29, 1959, edition of "The Appalachian" (p. 3).
