This image shows associate professor Roy Blanton, Jr., of the Department of Administration, Supervision, and Higher Education in the College of Learning and Human Development at Appalachian State University (1929-1967) standing in an office in the 1970s. Sitting in a chair on the left is Dr. James E. Stone. Blanton began teaching at Appalachian State in 1948 as band director at Appalachian State and Appalachian High School (1925-1965), taught in the Department of Education from 1956 to 1958, served as principal of Appalachian High School from 1958-1964, and taught in the Department of Administration, Supervision, and Higher Education from 1975 and became chairman in 1977. He also served as assistant dean to Academic Affairs and director of Extension Programs from 1964 to 1975.
