Description

This image shows associate professor Roy Blanton, Jr., of the Department of Education sitting at a desk in an office at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. Blanton began teaching at Appalachian State in 1948 as band director at Appalachian State and Appalachian High School (1925-1965), taught in the Department of Education from 1956 to 1958, served as principal of Appalachian High School from 1958-1964, and taught in the Department of Administration, Supervision, and Higher Education from 1975 and became chairman in 1977. He also served as assistant dean to Academic Affairs and director of Extension Programs from 1964 to 1975.
