Title

Conrad Stadium Dedication, circa 1962, photo 2

Description

This image shows Director of Public Affairs Bob Allen presenting James Marsh with the football used in the first game played at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in October 1962. Framed plaques with pictures of Conrad Stadium were presented to Alfred Adams and James March, leaders of the Watauga County Heartline campaign to raise local funds for construction of the stadium. Conrad Stadium replaced College Field, located approximately at the current location of Rankin Science Hall, and was dedicated to William J. Conrad, head of the Board of Trustees.
